Solo Show Manolo Garibay
Above, the stillness: a mountain of images awaits impassively. Its elements are a collection of paintings, landscapes, archaeological artifacts, prehistoric animals, and everyday figures, united into a single stable structure in the popular imagination. Below, the receptive: the earth is a hungry blanket where the collapsed remains of previous mountains formulate new ascents.

Encuentro con noche victoriosa. Watercolor and paper. 160 x 5 x 120 cm
The exhibition brings together testimonies of collapse: consecrated images are stripped of their context, degraded, and sink into a uniform lithosphere where everything is potent. The remaining kerogen, ghosts that barely whisper of their former composition, is an extended rhizome that conjures new creations.

The specters, free from bonds and immersed in the dark phase, wander, devour each other, copulate, procreate. They are evidence of the joy of dissolution. They summon life, and life comes, measured by strokes of the brush—the sole catalyst of the process. The creatures that emerge inhabit not only the canvas, but also memory, thus disintegrating the flow of time. They are the arc of a spiral in its infancy or the ancestral rocks at the base of a new mountain.
Mutation is both path and destiny.
