Bastian earned her BA from Wesleyan University in 2019, specializing in Studio Art–Sculpture. Her thesis received high honors, and she was awarded the 2019 Elizabeth Verveer Tishler Prize for the “most outstanding senior exhibition” in Studio Art. She has participated in various group exhibitions in Havana and New York, including a group show, “This is Her House,” at the 2019 Havana Biennial. Her work focuses on discarded objects as canvases, utilizing both additive and subtractive processes to recreate narratives of their former lives. In doing so, she emphasizes the multiple ways in which everyday artifacts increasingly shift, circulate, and intermingle.
