Comments on the Matter is an exhibition of 9 artists: Alejandro Pintado, Andrea Bores, Bastián Silvestre, Berta Kolteniuk, Dairo Vargas, Daniel Adolfo, Monica Figueroa, Raúl Cerrillo and Tahanny Lee

Far from understanding paint solely as a two-dimensional surface for representation, this exhibition proposes a reflection on the material itself: its texture, density, application method, interaction with other elements, and spatial possibilities.

Each artist offers a different approach, from reinterpreted traditional techniques—such as India ink in Tahanny Lee's work, which she applies to give greater depth and imbues her works with a personal history—to more experimental interventions like Bastián Silvestre's, who uses remnants of walls, layers of paint on glass, textiles, and industrial waste to transform his works into collective memories, recalling places and historical moments encapsulated in a piece of canvas. The aim of this exhibition is to open a conversation about how painting is understood and used in contemporary practice, and how, through its manipulation of materials, artists generate new meanings, narratives, and interpretations.
